AC Milan vs Arsenal FC (15-02-2012 - 20:40 CET)
#41
Both AC Milan and Arsenal won 2-1 coming from behind. One winning, thanks to a former star & the other winning thanks to a future star.

Enough is enough. Defeats to Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs in 3 Ro16 ties. All bad things need to stop at some point. But if AC Milan lose to EPL club this around, I might quit watching football for a while.

With this win against Udinese, I actually feel confident and pumped up right now. Can't wait for Wednesday.

Mertesacker will be out from this game due to injury. It's a shame because before they had two supposedly weak defenders in him and Vermaelen though the latter was more because he's played at LB. Now Vermaelen can go back into his normal position at CB. I saw Gibbs on Arsenal bench tonight but I don't know if he's fit to start next Wednesday.

We often struggle against pacy players. Abate hasn't been himself after returning from injury, Mexes got burned by Udinese players several times tonight, though I must say I'm quite satisfied with Mesbah's display at LB. Let's hope we can win this game and do so with clean sheet 3bandiera

my formation:

----------------------------------- abbiati ----------------------------------------

abate --------- nesta ------------------- silva ------------------- mesbah ----

------- urby ---------------------- boss ----------------------- nocerino -------

-------------------------- the big game player ---------------------------------

----------- el shaarawy -------------------------- ibra ---------------------------

big game player = not seedorf.....

lopez/robinho/pato on bench - i think if pato is not 100%, we shouldn't include him in the bench... i dont know if 1st sub should be robinho or lopez... robinho's form has been very frustrating recently

The only (UCL) big game players AC Milan have are Nesta and Pato.

I will be devestated if Ibrahimovic get a starting place ahead of Pato, EL92, Robinho or even Maxi, as if he is some kind of football God and get into the without displaying anything good. For heaven sake drop him Allegri, its UCL knockout match and the whole world knows what Ibrahimovic does in such matches .............. choke big times Confused

If Ibrahimovic starts, AC Milan won't win. Its as simple as that.

Even though I am not Ibra's fan lately, he starts whenever he is fit also because he is Milan's highest paid player.

If we want to sell him for good money this summer, we better not break our relationship with him before then, or else his price will drop.

Let just see what Ibrahimovic has done in UCL knockout round critical matches

Ajax:

2002-03 --- QF vs AC Milan --- 0 goal
2002-03 --- QF vs AC Milan --- 0 goal (Scoring against Maldini & Nesta? In your dreams)

Juventus: What a great typical solid Italian it was, under Capello

2004-05 --- Ro16 vs Real Madrid --- 0 goal
2004-05 --- Ro16 vs Real Madrid --- 0 goal

2004-05 --- QF vs Liverpool --- 0 goal,
2004-05 --- QF vs Liverpool --- 0 goal (Robinho type miss from Zambrotta sublime cross)

2005-06 --- Ro16 vs Werder Bremen --- 0 goal
2005-06 --- Ro16 vs Werder Bremen --- 0 goal

2005-06 --- QF vs Arsenal --- 0 goal
2005-06 --- QF vs Arsenal --- 0 goal (Embarrassment continues)

Inter:

2006-07 --- Ro16 vs Valencia --- 0 goal
2006-07 --- Ro16 vs Valencia --- 0 goal (no goals against fragile Valencia defense?!?!?)

2007-08 --- Ro16 vs Liverpool --- 0 goal
2007-08 --- Ro16 vs Liverpool --- 0 goal (Humiliation at best)

2008-09 --- Ro16 vs Man Utd --- 0 goal
2008-09 --- Ro16 vs Man Utd --- 0 goal (Robinho type hat-trick of missing chances)

Barcelona:

2009-10 --- Ro16 vs Stuttgart --- 1 goal (Really?!?!?)
2009-10 --- Ro16 vs Stuttgart --- 0 goal

2009-10 --- QF vs Arsenal --- 2 goals (the best performance, but anyone can score when Xavi, Iniesta & Messi are the providers)

2009-10 --- SF vs Inter --- 0 goals (normal service resumes)
2009-10 --- SF vs Inter --- 0 goals (couldn't score even for Barca when mattered most)

AC Milan:

2010-11 --- Ro16 vs Spurs --- 0 goal
2010-11 --- Ro16 vs Spurs --- 0 goal

2011-12 --- Ro16 vs Arsenal ---> God just save us, if the main man has this kind of record in the knockout matches of UCL

My advice: Ibrahimovic please quit playing UCL knockout matches once and for all Sagrin

Boateng is still out in this game right?

It might not seem to great, but this could really work... Robinho could be a fake attacker where SES cuts in to be feed to pato / be fed from binho.

I am not putting Ibra up cos I like to finish with 11 and score a goal Smile
