The problem is that the rest of Serie A is piss poor. Most of the teams (about 14 or 15 of them) barely ever go over 1mil salary for their players. So selling to them is extremely difficult. I think that yes, we probably gave Laxalt a bit too much last year. Something around 1mil would have been more appropariate and at the same time it would have meant he's easier to get rid of.
Take a look at this for example...Parma's highest paid players last year were Inglese and Gervinho at 1.2 and 1 mil net respectively. To get into that salary structure, Laxalt would need to almost cut his salary in half. Don't think he'll do that and neither would any of us to be fair.
The biggest problem is that Laxalt was on a 400k a year salary at Genoa. Why in the world we gave him a raise of more then 4x is beyond me. It's not like we were battling other teams for his signature. But we live and we learn and hopefully Maldini is a quick learner.
