Real Madrid have nothing to lose by waiting for the best offer. If they value him at €50 million and we're only prepared to pay €30 over several years, why would they jump at it? The only chance we have is that Ceballos had his heart set on Milan.

According to @Gazzetta_it, while Roma's contract offer to Veretout was better than Milan's, the Rossoneri are not out of the race for the Frenchman yet as he has expressed interest in Milan's project.

Milan will have a direct contact with Arsenal by the end of the week for Torreira. Discussions with the player's agent Oscar Bentancourt has already begun and will continue. Milan count on Gazidis and Torreira and his wife's will to leave England and move to Milano [GdS]

@TeleFootball understands that the Lucas Torreira is a “priority” for Milan. Any offer would need to be considerably higher than the fee of around £25m which Arsenal paid to Sampdoria when they signed the Uruguayan last summer
