RE: Serie A - Demonbanana - 03-21-2022

After the break, Napoli have a difficult stretch of Atalanta, Fiorentina and Roma

Inter play Juventus then Verona.

On current form, I expect Inter will finish 4th with Juve 3rd.

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 03-21-2022

While I am not happy that Atalanta is useless and can't keep Juventus out of CL, I take solace in that it also means that our CL spot is all but secured. Should any disaster occur and that we have to implode like crazy, at least we should still have CL unlike in the last season when we had to worry until literally the last minute.

RE: Serie A - Sleeping Giant - 03-21-2022

Just randomly surfing on Origi stats, he has goal or an assist every 115 minutes with no penalties in Premier league. I think he will explode in Serie A if presented with proper playing time.

Good read

RE: Serie A - nefremo - 03-25-2022

I don't know. Can't speak about youth football in Italy, but that's DEFINITELY not the reason they missed out. 6 months ago they dominated the Euro. These knee-jerk reactions from officials and journalists are beyond stupid. Italy has the one of the best midfields in the world. They lack at the CF department but are decently covered on the wings and always solid in the back. What happened yesterday was a fluke. I'll say that as a Macedonian. We got lucky. How often do you face 30+ shots, block 15 more...and end up NOT conceding.

Italy's problem wasn't the lack of talent. Not yesterday and not during the qualifying campaign. I believe they have to change theur style, but that is an easy fix at the international level. Just change the coach. Italy needs to play more direct. More vertical. They need more runners off the ball. This tiki-tala shit they do doesn't quite work. They played 3 same style midfielders yesterday. All great players, but all want the ball to their feet and pass it endlessly. Somone like Pellegrini and Tonali should have played from the start.

Anyway. It sucks for the Italian national team. But panic is not the answer.every time this happens they talk about reforms. They stop clubs feom buying foreign players, etc. But there's no need for reforms. Italy has talent in abundance. Maybe not to win tournaments every 2 years, but definitely enough to get themselves there.

RE: Serie A - reza - 03-25-2022

From a youth development aspect they are doing a much poorer job than many though, not just compared to Germany or similar but generally. It might not gurantee anything but it will keep that pool of talent in shape at highest level they can be. I have said it before - and probably no one agreed Tongue - in relation to Milan's players for example, those whose talent are recognized should not be sent to Serie B just cause they will playing minutes at the expense of training with the senior team. I am of course not talking about having every 18 year old at Milanello but in a more general case of a say 20 year old who goes to Serie B does well but is not ready for anything Serie A level when he comes to summer tour at 21 and then he is sold or loaned back somewhere.

RE: Serie A - Sleeping Giant - 03-25-2022

The problem that Italians face is multidimensional, first thing which I have to blame Mancini'd favroutism, De Sciglio was called up for good 2 months but Calabria still getting sidelined and Faraoni not even called once for NT, in forms players like Caprari, Vicario not called up and his god damn same pathetic line up.

Second thing, i dont know whom to blame but do Italians really born with congenital knee problems? So many ACLs years every season is worrying aspect, 2 of most talented players in Europe, Chiesa and Zaniolo both having ACLs.

Start afresh with new players, Zaccagni, Caprari, Scamacca, Raspadori. Both Bonucci and Chiellini should have enough morality left in them that should now just retire from Internationals, a part of problem lies that Italian never really thought about the future after them and are yet to find replacement of these two, Bastoni has emerged one and is doing good but whom to partner him? Felipe? Mancini? Is yet a big puzzle to solve.

Mancini should be sacked from NT no ifs and buts from me, its shame for 4 times WC champions to not qualify for straight second time. Only Italian worth replacing him is Italiano and rest are just the same old Italian mindset managers.... find some foriegner to replace him.

Build the future around players like Rovella, Udogie, Parisi, Gnoto, Viti, Nasti, Scalvini, and many more i dont rememeber the names.

RE: Serie A - nefremo - 03-25-2022

But even the group that was called up they should have easily qualified. It's not a question of lack in talent or options. I agree on De Sciglio. But all coaches are the same. They are the most arrogant and stubborn individuals out there. There is zero reason De Sciglio should be called up and not Calabria. Yet, again, this isn't reason they didn't qualify.

I don't think radical changes from the core are necessary.

Reza, I agree on the young players comment. It's a 2 edged blade though. People argue that playing time under real pressure is necessary for development and I can see that. On the other hand, like you mentioned, Serie B is of extremely low level (just look at the teams that come up year after year) so how good does it actually do for a 18-20 year old to be playing there? Then again, at some point you gotta just stop just training and start playing as well.

Anyway, I'll say it again......i think Italy needs to find another coach. One with a bit different mentality. The talent is there. This group of players could have challenged for the WC. It may sound silly to say that after they were just beaten and embarrassed, but individually, they are as good as any other national team out there. Mancini failed to bring that individual quality together after the Euro. And he, like many stubborn coaches out there, REFUSED to change the style after it clearly didn't work for 6 months. Refused to change formation, style, tactics, personnel, everything.
Again....what was the point of playing a midfield of Verratti, Barella and Jorginho???? So that he could "dominate" the midfield???? Against a team that was going to GIVE you the midfield anyway!!?? Macedonia had no interest in winning midfield battles. They just wanted to plug the box. Where were the Italian runs into the box from the midfield?? Lol It was a joke. They had Verratti, Jorginho and Barella making 5 yard passes left and right for most of the game. You play that midfield against Spain or Germany or Brazil. Not against Macedonia. Pellegrini should have started because he is great in long shots and good at making runs into the box. Also, why not play with 2 CFs? Why insist on only 1 when it hasn't worked for 6 months. Against a team that was gonna sit deep.

I saw tactical issues. I saw mentality (from the coach) issues. Not an issue of talent or lack of development or options. This is why I'm saying reforms are not necessary. Of course. You always assess how you can improve your system and keep up. But like I said, I'm afraid these idiots will hurt the individual clubs again with knee-jerk reactions like always. Someone, somewhere within FIGS will use this as an excuse to push their own agenda. In the end, it'll be the individual clubs and Serie A that'll suffer.

i dont agree with him, where was he when we played calabria, leao, silva, hauge, dollar when they are under 20, even tonali used to play in brescia when he is under 20 as a starter, italy has enough talent imo, they just need to change coach, just because mancini win them euro doesnt mean he is a god, he is crap since his inter and city times imo

RE: Serie A - nefremo - 04-03-2022

Juventus throwing themselves to the ground after everything and trying to get a PK. Chiellini running to the referee like mad man wanting a PK for nothing. Gotta say, Inter is the same way. These two clubs are a disgrace. Not because I'm a Milan fan. But because this behavior from both these teams is so embarrassing. I don't ever see our players doing this. What an embarrassment.
