RE: Serie A - Sleeping Giant - 05-10-2021

I would love to see Monza getting promoted to Serie A, might form a good relation with us due to Berlu and Galliani and their undying love for Milan. Surely a good place for our youngsters like Gabbia and Pobega for their coming development program and even Hauge if you include and Monza spend some good amount of money this season and they have overall good recruitment policy which we can snatch some in future Tongue

And there is San Marino connection of Rube. Sagrin

I remember they had a San Marinese player a bit long time during Platini era I think.

Maybe he can bribe them into San Marinese league Icon_lol2 good old method of Rube Big Grin

Yea, it would be nice to see new names in Serie A (Salernitana, Monza). Sucks that Empoli is back in.

Anyway....in terms of Serie A and the CL race....I know everyone's penciled in Atalanta. Rightfully so as they are playing so well and just scoring bunches when turned on........BUT, not so quick. Ours is a tough game vs them, but it goes both ways. I doubt they'd wanna face Milan in the last round with everything on the line. They also still have to play Juventus. They may be in shambles...but they still have quality all over the field that can easily win any game in Italy on their day.

Nobody's taking this scenario seriously...but we may actually get to the last game qualified...and it may be Atalanta that needs the point rather then us.

Salernitana was in Serie A, ... last century. Icon_lol2 in fact, in an exciting season for us (98-99). Rino used to play there, iirc.

I don't remember Monza ever in A?

I remember that. A defender, I think. Played in 85 EC final. Don't remember the name. Couldn't bother to go check.  Sagrin

Napoli destroyed Udinese. Damn

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 05-11-2021

Napoli is simply unstoppable. I think it is good, as long as we do our job right and get into CL, for one of the other spots, I would take Napoli over Juventus any day. Okmilan

RE: Serie A - nefremo - 05-11-2021

It was always going to be "easy" for them. They are playing against teams that have nothing to play for. The is exactly why I've always been for a playoff/playout system at the end of the season. It gives everyone something to play for to the last match. Europeans make fun of the American system of no relegation/promotion (I agree)...but I believe the Americans at least got the playoff thing right.

But anyhow, it is what it is. This happens every year. The teams that are safe, play like shit the last 2-3 games of the season. Very much expected.

I never expected Napoli to drop points here. Beating Juve was huge for us. Ultimately, this was always the ideal scenario.....to NOT NEED someone else to drop points. It's all down to us. We just have to beat Torino and Cagliari. I'm just hoping that by the time we play Cagliari, they also have nothing to play for. It would be awesome if we get to the Atalanta game needing nothing.

But who knows...maybe Sassuolo spanks Juve tomorrow and we win....then we are qualified (assuming Lazio doesn't win 4 in a row)

RE: Serie A - Sampinjon - 05-12-2021

Nah ,against play off. It would kill pre-play off part of season same way as nobody cares about MLS prior to play offs. Solution is to put ourselves into position "not to depend on final few rounds". Simple ,right? We had 34 rounds to do that and we failed. As I see it, there is no guilt on Udinese ,it is guilt on us.
