Balzaretti retires and is immediately offered a management role.
and he's not even a club legend.

While Maldini......

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 08-12-2015

I remember the days when I wanted Balzaretti as our LB solution...

Dzeko to Roma official

Speaking of remembering, remember the days when Dzeko to Milan was close and he was said to be a huge Milan fan.

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 08-12-2015

I think he is a big Milan fan. There were rumors that he was tricked by Wolfsburg management to sign an extension, but no one really knows what happened between him and Milan.

Stitch probably has more inside information.

I know it's not Serie A but it is Italian football so..

Former Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti has been provisionally banned from all stadia and football activity for his part in the matchfixing scandal regarding several Serie B fixtures last season. Prosecutor also wants Catania to be relegated and for the former president to receive a five year ban from all football related activity.

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 08-16-2015

Am I the only one not knowing this until today? Apparently Inter Milan got a sizeable FFP fine by UEFA before this summer, and wasn't supposed to spend. No wonder people were confident that they wouldn't sign Kondogbia, and after they did, look what kind of mess they were in. Okmilan

Quote:How Inter's £14.5m FFP fine could boost Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal transfer policies

The San Siro giants were forced to pay £14.5million today after UEFA found the club had breached FFP regulations.

Inter are already struggling on and off the pitch. Club owner and businessman Erick Thohir has already pledged to spend big on players this summer.

They are looking to sign Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, could place a bid for Manchester United's out-of-form striker Robin van Persie and want Palermo's Paulo Dybala - who is reportedly viewed by Chelsea as a bargain at £29m.

However, a huge downturn in revenue from their failure to qualify for the Champions League - coupled with this fine - means the club must sell this summer.

And that could greatly boost a handful of Premier League clubs in the transfer market.

For a start, £29m-rated striker Mauro Icardi is almost certain to be shifted.

The forward is embattled in contract negotiations and Chelsea hope his value will plummet by £7m if he rejects Inter's offer.

The club are reportedly refusing to meet his high demands - wary as they are of further punishment from UEFA.

Manchester United's pursuit of goalkeeper Samir Handanovic may also be back on the cards for the same reason as Icardi.

Handanovic, 32, is a free agent next summer and is negotiating hard over a new contract. He is understood to have caught United's eye as a potential replacement for David De Gea if the goalkeeper leaves for Real Madrid.

And Arsenal are hoping a tentative £7.5m bid for striker Matteo Kovacic, which Liverpool are also considering making, will force Inter into selling one of their prized assets.

LOL at Arsenal by the way. What a cheapskate. Big Grin
Still wish that we could have got Kondogbia though, but of course not at the 40 million price.

I love what is happening to Inter. I always thought Thohir was running that club into the ground. Big Grin

As I've been saying all summer, I don't really understand what they're doing. Some things appear good and following a clear plan, but then others seem totally random and nonsensical. I think Mancini's having a big say in a lot of what's happening, which imo isn't a good thing.

RE: Serie A - somedevil - 08-17-2015

I have never been convinced with Mancini. I think he's a poor man's Ancelotti. A very poor man's that is. He was such a resigned presence on the sidelines during the friendlies. Barring his wins during the calciopoli years, what has he really done?

As for Thohir, I read an article about how he's 'loaning' Inter operational funds while charging them interest for it too. Of course he must be doing that via a third party 'company'. But this is so typically Inter. Things very rarely do work for them- maybe it's just the culture at that club, instilled by Mr.Instant gratification Moratti himself.

Sure, Serie A need a strong Inter- but I for once would be delighted to see them relegated to B.
